Adults Woodworking Classes

Woodworking is such an excellent hobby, practiced by thousands of people!

And if you ever thought about starting woodworking, there probably were a lot of questions coming into your mind!

How much room do I need? Which tools should I buy? Hand tools? Power tools? What are the technics I should learn …. It can be very complicated and confusing. And if you get discouraged by all these difficulties, the dream of making things by yourself can quickly fall appart.

My goal is to help people out in their woodworking journey.

As a hand tools enthusiast, I love being in shop, sharpening my blades and making shavings. No loud noise, no dust, quiet atmosphere! And I found that working with hand tools, when properly sharpened and set up, is so much more enjoyable and brings much more satisfaction! But I also have professional power operated equipment to speed up some tasks like resawing and milling, that will take too much time done by hand.

Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, whether you want to learn traditional hand tools techniques, or just looking to be efficient with power tools, I’m here to guide you in this incredible journey woodworking is!

I offer one-on-one classes to allow me to focus specifically on one student’s goal, as well as group workshops.

Classes are very flexible, and made to make YOU a better woodworker so you can enjoy time in your shop as much as I do

December woodworking classes

As a child who grew up with a dad who was a furniture maker, I had a lot of things in my bedroom that were made by him. Let me open my heart to you.

One of the most painful thing in my life is that I no longer have any of these with me. Life happened … But I still remember them.I still see them in my mind

And I still remember the feeling, as a kid, to play with neat things that were made by my dad’s hands! This is invaluable!Us, adults, all know that “Santa does not exist”. I don’t 100% agree.

I think we all have a part of Santa in our heart.

And I want you reveal that Santa part. In December, I’m going to open the studio to all adults who would like to build a toy, or any small item for their children or grandchildren. I will walk you thru the process of making the item you chose.

I want you to feel that pride when your child opens that present on Christmas.

I did it every Christmas with my son. I can tell you is a wonderful feeling.

I want children to have, and keep an item that was made by hand by a parent, or grand parent. I can tell you the attachment kids will have to that item will be 10x stronger than anything you may purchase them with money ..

Our woodworking studio on 1275 Broad street will be opened Dec. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17 and 19 from 6:30 to 8:30

Registration form will ask you the project you want to make. We recommend contacting us prior to registering so we can look at your idea and gauge time required to complete such project.

$80+taxes per evening – All material for your project included

WHAT's IMPORTANT IN
OUR WOODWORKING CLASSES?

SAFETY

Safety is the most important!  You come in the shop with your 10 fingers and we want you to keep them all. You will learn how to handle and use tools to keep everybody safe.

Learn, PraCTICE, DO IT YOURSELF

We emphasize the experience on those 3 axis.

  1. Learning the techniques of the tools we will use. (handling a hammer, cutting with hand saw, measuring a piece,… )
  2. Practice the techniques on scrap pieces of wood. When you start a project, any mistake can result in your piece to become firewood. We want participants to get comfortable with the techniques before starting the final cut! It takes time and patience, which is amazing virtue.
  3. DIY! Pride comes with what you do, this is why we don’t do cuts for you. It does not matter if the project is perfect or not, the most important is that everything is made with your hands!

VAlORIZATION OF MISTAKES

It may seem strange but yes we do believe that doing mistakes and learning come together. There is no learning without mistakes.  This is a misconception in our society that mistakes are bad. They are for us essential, it means you are going out of your comfort zone, trying new things and learning how to do. This is why we encourage everybody to try tools, techniques … and will never shame them for their mistakes.

PEACEFUL ATMOSPHERE AND FUN!

Peaceful atmosphere is very important for us. Woodworking is very relaxing and participants can really get into a calm and focusing zone where time is just flying. And obviously, we want all our students to have fun, enjoy using tools and building stuff and have a pleasant time in the studio!
